Classic Short-Sleeved Shirts

The short sleeve shirt first seen a lot of action back in the late 50's and early 60's. An era (in fashion) most described as being a cool bad boy, but definite heart-throb to all girls. Think both icons and modern-day stars like Alex Turner (top image) think like James Dean, Marlon Brando and Elvis Presley, rockstar and laid-back, think fitted. Do not think Richard Ayoade or Homer Simpson, do not think geek chic, don't go for oversized and do NOT wear a tie. Please. This shirt is a great vintage item, and would look great all summer, especially on holiday or when attending a festival.

The short sleeve shirt will I think look good in most colours, plain or printed. Wear with skinny fitted trousers, in a strong contrasting colour, take Alex Turner, I think this would look best teamed with either black or navy trousers and maybe even cropped trousers. I honestly don't think shorts would look the best as well. As for footwear, maybe some in navy, green or tan, but being really specific, navy and green in suede and tan in leather. Double Monk Strap shoes could look cool and desert boots. Team with some really cool sunglasses, you could keep it easy and simple with some Ray Ban Wayfarer or Clubmaster, or maybe some classics from Saint Laurent in brown acetate. Round and retro John Lennon sunglasses could also look cool. Below are a few of my favorites short sleeve shirts from both high-end designers and high street stores.

A.P.C £140.00

Marc by Marc Jacobs £165.00

Saint Laurent £515.00

Levi's Vintage Clothing £150.00

Bottega Veneta £495.00

Levi's Vintage Clothing £150.00

As you can see, from what I mentioned earlier colour isn't an issue as all of these are completely different, and yet all still work very well. By the way all of these designer shirts are all available from Mr Porter. If you maybe don't want to spend this much on a shirt, then look at the ones I have found from high street below.

Topman £25.00

Topman £55.00

Zara £25.99

Although quite expensive, these are really nice short sleeve shirt, they're both from The Kooples and the first cost £130.00 and the second cost £120.00 I also think that girls could easily wear these shirts as well, as seen in The Kooples lookbook, which I picked up yesterday...

Anyway, that's it and I hope my blog post has inspired some of you to go out and purchase a short sleeve shirt, and if so I hope my fashion tips help and aid you in getting the right shirt.
