Day 2 at London Collections: Men

The second day of London Collections: Men was jam-packed with all things fun. We seen design duo Agi and Sam go back to primary school and playing around with colour, prints of course and Lego, yes Lego! Christopher Raeburn revisited his recycling with a new purpose ways, with a collection based around the idea of rafts. Sibling was loud and proud (and pink) to say the least but without trying to ruin anything, lets go ahead with the post shall we?

Agi and Sam
Masters of print Agi and Sam visited their old primary schools and Toys"R"Us questioning kids on what they wished the clothes they wore could do, as you could imagine their was probably thousands of creative and imaginable ideas fed back to the design duo. I read somewhere that Agi went on a visit to Yorkshire to see his family and his mother shown him a collection he had designed at the tender age of four, entitled "The Coolman Collection" and it wasn't until then that the pair realised that it's hard to be childish and just have fun when you're super busy all the time. After the research with all the help from the kids, they would go on to design jackets turned inside out, colour blocking knitwear, velcro everything and prints that were also done in collaboration with the kids (Did Agi or Sam do anything? Haha) who painted over VHS covers and prescription drug packaging that had been merged together and let's not forget about those awesome face covering lego masks. Every look was also shown with a pair of really on trend Adidas Superstars. Finally I would just love to add, I absolutely adore what Agi and Sam have done this season, with the kids and that.

Christopher Raeburn
We all know Christopher Raeburn as the guy who recycles and creates magnificent coats which are always fun, in the sense of how they'd been made and this season was exactly that. As I mentioned in the intro, this season was influenced by rafts and sort of being at sea, unfortunately surrounded by sharks. The early looks were made from recycled rafts, the sort of patchwork orange pieces as you probably guessed, but what was the most interesting for me was the inflatable down jackets, gilets and bags, from working alongside rubber specialists. These I think will be amongst the most innovative and smart design approach to any piece throughout any men's fashion week this month. What I loved, but what I thought to be more cute than feared was the shark jumpers and I also haven't got a clue to as to what material was used on the sort of brown streaky looks that featured around halfway through the show? If any of you guys have any ideas, please let me know!

Sibling
Dazed Digital may put this best: "On Wednesday's we wear pink." If you don't already know, Sibling is mainly a knitwear brand looking at fun ways to put a spin on traditional knitwear pieces. It is made up of three designers, Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery. This season was a kind of Throwback Thursday moment to a craze they started from their early Sibling collections in which they would often use this hot pink which would soon become known as "Sibling Pink" it's almost the fashion equivalent of "Ferrari Red" Anyway, the highlight of this show had to be the huge pink and black teddy bears, I remember my nan having teddy bears like these one (obviously not that big) is there a specific name for this kind of knitted teddy bear? anyway let me know down in the comments if there is. There weren't too much I would consider wearable on my behalf, I mean there were some pieces, a couple of jumpers, the scarves and even though they were in fuchsia pink, the Chelsea boots had a cool rockstar edge to them, but overall I thought it was a strong collection.

Thank you all again for reading, I hope you enjoyed this fun-filled Saturday at London Collections: Men and join me again tomorrow for coverage of my favourite shows from Sunday the 11th January. On day three, we seen collections from Alexander McQueen, Casely Hayford, JW Anderson, James Long and Jeremy Scott's second menswear collection for Moschino, which I don't know about you has a lot of proving to do, because last season didn't do Moschino any justice. Stay tuned!
