Day 2 at Milan Men's Fashion Week

Well what can I say, I loved day 1 of Milan Men's Fashion Week, so you can call me a hypocrite or whatever. Having said that, this is one of few occasions in which I would wear this many of the clothes presented, whether they had a rockstar influence or not, I kind of loved them. On the second day of MMFW we had a visit from luxury house Bottega Venetta, Salvatore Ferragamo and one of my all-time favourite brands, punk legend: Vivienne Westwood and of course her genius husband and creative director Andreas Kronthaler. The man responsible for so much in the Vivienne Westwood brand particularly the menswear side of things, but still takes the back seat. So shall we begin?

Bottega Venetta
Bottega Venetta again is a brand I honestly don't take that much notice of, but lately since coming closer to studying fashion design, it's only now that I've been looking at more and more fashion from different houses each day. For a little insight into Bottega Venetta, it's Italian and was established in 1966. Although the brand originally focused on luxury leather goods and wasn't until forty or so years later that they moved into high-end fashion for men and women. It's kind of like what JW Anderson is doing with Loewe at the moment. This collection was not so trend driven, it wasn't the man who has a keen eye for fashion, details etc. but more the man who adds an extra layer simply because its cold outside. This collection also touched on artists during the decade of the 1960's which was seen at Dunhill. And I loved that collection as you may know. There was a reference to again, Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon. Shapes were timeless however colours and print felt quite contemporary, and I even think I read somewhere that colours were re-named. Interesting. The clothes were layered nothing short of perfect I felt and that hair; tousled, messy, sometimes long is super on-trend. Modern artists of today. Finally, I'd like to mention that braces should make a comeback, but that's just me. Leave a comment below on whether you think braces should make a return.

Salvatore Ferragamo
I suppose you could say the latest Salvatore Ferragamo collection to it's inspiration from art as well. Massimiliano Giornetti visited Tate Britain last Summer and seen an exhibition of uncelebrated folk art. But what captured him was a section about soldiers, who would spend their time creating pieces of art to send back to their families or lovers. The collection, to me had a very mystical sort of fairy tale/folk story feel to it. I thought this was an intense concept with lots and lots of layers behind each piece which was interesting and cool I guess. It felt personal somehow, compelling and very masculine. It's nice to see men dress like men sometimes in fashion, even if I do prefer a certain level of ultra-skinny fit androgyny. Back to the show, I loved the scarves pushed up to create a huge dominating, overpowering neckline, chunky knitwear is always a favourite of mine during the Fall months, the vintage-looking worn-in leather looked great and fur looked incredibly soft. Something else I really liked was the sunglasses, I'm a huge fan of smart well made eyewear and these looked exactly that. Favourite looks below as always...

Vivienne Westwood
The Vivienne Westwood menswear show is something I dream about returning back to London all the time, but nevertheless it's always a great show wherever it is and this was certainly no exception. This season however, didn't have quite as much global warming awareness, political statements or as such like we've seen done so brilliantly in past collections. Well not quite as bold anyway for that matter. This season was more paying homage to the Prince of Wales himself. And I think it was more the type of things the two share, organic farming,  environmentally friendly maybe? As you may have guessed, some of the garments featured Prince of Wales Check, alongside windowpane check, tartan...Westwood is no stranger to the amount of patterns and print. Especially that British Sterling Bank Note print. I loved how a look was dressed down, take the first look for example, the subtle shirt and tie combination under a pink crew neck jumper, thrown on top of that, a clashing of checks. A Vivienne Westwood hat is definitely something I want, I never did get that Buffalo hat thinking back. And Westwood knitwear is something many people admire and want. Shearling coats crept up in yet another show this Fall 2015 Season, another hint towards the seventies which to Vivienne Westwood was around the time she founded the brand with her traditional punk attitude. Finally that balaclava with the suede suit jacket was quite unexpected until I linked it back to the bank note garments and presumed bank heist. Anyone agree with me on this? Let me know in the comments below. Oh sorry one more thing, did a male model have high heels on? That's just insane but brilliant haha! I'll try my best to narrow down my favourite looks to just six. Enjoy.
