Day 4 at Milan Men's Fashion Week

Well it's finally came around, the last day of Milan Men's Fashion Week was yesterday so that means only one thing, this is my last post on Milan Menswear. I can also say that my views regarding Milan have genuinely changed. Yesterday we had shows by Roberto Cavalli, Brioni and also Giorgio Armani a true icon is his own right. So anyway, let's commence with the blog post.

Roberto Cavalli
Perhaps the coolest show from the past five days in Milan, maybe even throughout London Collections: Men as well. The quiff was back in full swing, and never have I been so happy to see one on the runway. Another collection with a rockstar influence, this time at Roberto Cavalli there was deep blue and purples hues, which set the mood quite serious and straight to the point. There was no second guessing and that's what I loved. The fur coats in particular I think were my favourites from the collection and oh was that leather trousers I seen? I think so! And forget wearing your heart on your sleeve, this collection proved you can wear your heart on your shirt front, as shirts had strips of material that read "No...Bounds" and I think one may have read "E...Empathy" emotive banners? What I also thought were great and really cool and rockstar worthy was the skinny-fit luxurious tuxedo and suit jackets at the very end of the show. It was a great collection should we just leave it at that. Favourite looks below.

Brioni
A fashion house that I've never really knew much about or even look at their collections, but like I think I might have mentioned in an earlier post that I'm trying to look at more fashion on a whole. I'm glad I researched this collection because I loved it, it was super consistent and had that modern edge to a tradition reaching back to 1952. This year in particular because that was the year of the first ever menswear runway, when co-founder of Brioni Gaetano Savini decided to tantalise buyers who had come to Palazzo Pitti for the couture collections for something different. He recruited Angelo Vittucci to wear a dozen suits whilst working the room of mostly female department store buyers into a state of high excitement. He basically revolutionised menswear, and for some reason I think we owe it all to him. The garments I loved most were kind of all the coats, especially that red and blue checked one near the start of the show, a couple of the bomber jackets I liked and you probably know this by now that I adore a retro inspired print. That electric blue was something as well. Anyway before I bore you anymore with words, why not show you in picture form?

Brioni

Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani has been creating clothes to-die-for since he established his Armani label back in 1975, but it wasn't until the mid 80's when I think his label skyrocketed after producing the casual unstructured suit was it? Anyway what I wanted to say was this guy knows how to create high-end luxury fashion. This season saw models walk down the catwalk in couples, nothing new but this time there were males and females sharing the walk space in a collection inspired by none other than romance. A man and woman's romance wasn't the pinnacle of yesterday's show, it was the designer's long-term relationship with menswear and men looking good, "The essence of male beauty". I also hear that the "Downton Abbey" provided it's soundtrack for the show. Interesting. Although Mr. Armani himself is still experimenting with shape, the cut on his clothes are always immaculate. I never thought I'd say this, but never has a snood looked so good. The velvet looked like velvet never has before and oh would you look at that...more leather trousers. Wow! You would presume I work on commission for some leather production company. I don't by the way. Finally it wouldn't be a Giorgio Armani show without some exotic animal skins. And those high-shine green boots...Speechless. Here for the last time in Milan are my favourite looks from the collection. Enjoy.

Giorgio Armani

Well there you have it, another fashion week over. Time really does fly. Honestly, this may have been my favourite Milan Fashion Week for men, I'm a changed guy...Hypocrite more like. Anyway Paris Menswear started today with shows from Valentino, Raf Simons and Walter Van Beirendonck and later on in the week we'll be reviewing Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Comme Des Garçons the list is endless. I look forward to seeing you all again until next Monday unfortunately. After that, hopefully I'll be posting on a weekly schedule. It goes without saying that without you guys who take time out of their day to read my blog, there's no way I'd write it, so thank you I guess.
